Everybody in the water. Time to snorkel!
First an artificial reef off Firefly restaurant on Elbow Cay. Lots of fish.
This is called a scrawled filefish. Almost translucent.
We were entertained with conch cleaning – for conch fritters at the restaurant. A special hammer pierces the shell at the top so a knife can be inserted to cut the conch from the shell. Now he’s pulling the little critter out and then he’ll clean it until just the edible conch is left.
Then on to Mermaid Reef off Marsh Harbour.
Coral heads.
With lots of beautiful fish. Here are my best efforts at identifying them: a sergeant major.
A parrotfish?
A blue tang – they always look like they’re smiling.
The one with the “eyeball” is a foureye butterflyfish and the “eye” is at the back end of the fish. I believe the yellow one is a grunt.
Here’s an angelfish.
And a parrotfish.
The beauty of the Bahamas – from the bottom up.
