We’re staying in a friend’s cottage while they are off island. We’re trying to help out a bit by feeding the birds – our friends are birders. A favorite here is the Bananaquit.
Friendly and fairly tame.
According to the bird books, bananaquits have “no clearly defined kinship with any other family of birds.”
Unique.
Here’s my favorite – the iridescent Emerald hummingbird.
They can fly from a full stop at spectacular speed. And you can hear their wings beating.
Love staying in this gorgeous cottage with broad views of the Sea of Abaco and the Parrots.
And beautiful flowers.
We had rain the first two nights here – which gave us the freshest air I’ve every breathed.
Unique birds. Love to listen to the hummingbirds.
